We’re going back to France

Good times on the Tourmalet with Rodrigo, Jen and Rodrigo’s biggest fan

Last year was an off year, and this year well, is REALLY off. For many reasons, and with some encouragement from some Canadian friends, I’m going to continue the tradition of unicorns, tutus, celebrating diversity, just plain celebrating, talking about and supporting the Trevor Project; in France of course for the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift

I’ve printed stickers, designed a new jersey, and again Norman Cheng and Kali are supporting us by providing custom helmets! I just love them.

Kali does it again. Hopefully it makes it here with all the tariff shenanigans
Commemorating this year’s “Grand Diagonal” route and women pioneers of racing. You may even see Kate Veronneau in one.
This one properly reflects the peril our kids will be under
More stickers and new vendor, Zug Monster!

The season

Of course we’ll be doing a lot of other rides, and this year I’m back to supporting diverse and disadvantaged youth through Bikeworks. The youth programs leadership students will be choosing some weekend events, but beyond that, this year’s events are as follows:

Ride for Major Taylor
April 13
Tour de Blast
June 21
Bark Fooey
Aug 8-10
Kitsap Color Classic
Oct 12
McClinchy Mile
April 27
Seattle to Portland Classic
July 12-13
Sea to Sound
Aug 22-24
Phil’s Cookie Fondo
Oct 25-26
Flying Wheels
May 31
Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift – July 30-Aug 3
Mt. Baker Hill Climb
Sept 14

The tour

This year we are going with Trek Travel. Thomson decided they would no longer support e-bikes on their Tour de France Femme tours so we were in a crunch, when we found Trek. Actually our friend Angela Johnson found Trek Travel and we soon were in contact with Katie Krueger. She is the most accomodating and friendly rep! In fact she went as far as to support three of us going off one day and doing L’etape du Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift!

The profiles for each day compared to Mt. Baker Hill Climb

Day 1: Around Lake Annecy, including Col de Leschaux
Day 2: Col du Marais and Col de la Croix Fry
Day 3: Col de Leschaux and Col de Semnoz to Lake Bourget
Side trip: L’etape du Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift – Col de la Madeleine
Day 5: Col du Corbier to Le Biot
Day 6: Châtel to Col de Bassachaux

There are going to be some loooong days and some steep ascents, but I’ll be looking forward to the cowbells of Moo Moo Meadows alpine style. It’s also a good thing we have a coach…

The coach

We loved Katrina, but she decided to step away from coaching, so we have a new coach, Hunter Pronovost!

Hunter with a kid I don’t know, but a good smile on him.
If he came to France, this is how I picture him

Hunter likes bikes, the Eagles and pain. It took him a little bit to get used to our “West Coast party pace, look around and see things” perspective, but boy he is kinda making me into a watt junkie. I suspect the kid is from a non-profit he helps with the Connecticut Cycling Advancement Program. He’s quite the racer, but when he was very young he owned an ice cream shop, so he must know how to have fun without pain!

Stay tuned for more fun, love, weird humor, and support.
