About Serena

Our daughter Serena was a brilliant, brave and beautiful trans woman. Unexpectedly, she took her own life at 23 this July. She loved making things and was a very deep thinker. I often would ask her positions on issues of the day, because she often took that further look, and found truths I could not see.

Serena loved to make things with metal, plastic, fabric, code, and most of all her mind. She could even cook a hearty ramen.

Serena loved sweets.

Serena especially loved her cats, and travel.

Her long distance partner Tristan gave her a last trip of a lifetime to see him in Cambridge England and her only request was that we take care of her dear old cats, Sammy and Tiger.

She loved and was loved.

Her family helped her as she tried to grow into the woman she needed to be.

She had a special group of friends, whom I call the “Pangolin Posse”. They are bright, creative, kind, and non-judgmental. This fundraiser and team are named for them.

Can you help others like her?

There are so many great young people out there who know who they are, and need your help. I do this in memory of Serena, so her absence will not be in vain. She would want it that way. Find out more here:
