Brenda tells me when we’re done that it was more than a mile, but I told her it was the elevation gain. I’m going to assume people don’t know that generally.
So we finally did this fundraiser ride for B.I.K.E.S of Snohomish County. It would have been my home club when I lived with Serena all those years up in Lynnwood.

It was a great event with lots of great people, support and sights…and hills! Camano is full of steep and relatively short hills, but they don’t feel short.

What makes Camano an “island” is that little ditch, and it also separates Island from Snohomish County.

This is just the public art things they had on the bridge, NOT the fabulous fun they have on the island.
As usual with an island, there’s lots of free spirited individuals, and I’m not talking about just monster trucks and guns, but some fun art out there. I even got a thumbs up and a surprisingly positive rev from a very large diesel Ford.

A healthy respect for metal fauna.

Have no idea what this funky assemblage all is but we loved it.

The Cama Park stop was hosted by Stanwood High School students getting in their volunteer time and teacher advisors. There was a wonderful math teacher who was supportive of our fundraiser and understands how tough it is for kids to find who they are these days.

I would assume even Utsalady ladies need aid, as evidenced by this building. I think it was something from bygones past, but didn’t stop to investigate.
If I could say one thing about Camano, is that it’s all in on driftwood.

B.I.K.E.S. certainly had a sense of humor when they put in this Dan Henry ish thing at the top of one of the last gnarly climbs on the island.
Would I go again, most likely. It’s really a nice ride and for a small and seemingly motivated club. I cannot speak for Brenda 🙃
